Oatland Island Wildlife Center

Oatland Island Wildlife Center of Savannah is a recreational and educational facility functioning for over four decades. Sprawling over 175 acres (70 hectares), it is replete with lush landscapes, freshwater wetlands and marshy habitats of endangered species.

Savannah National Wildlife Refuge

Savannah National Wildlife Refuge consists of thousands of acres of freshwater marshes, tidal rivers and creeks, and bottomland hardwoods. About half the refuge is bottomland, composed primarily of cypress, gum, and maple species. The Savannah River is the lifeblood of the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge which provides rich habitats that support a diverse array of migratory and resident wildlife.
This aquarium serves as a resource for educators, students and the public on coastal Georgia marine ecosystems. Featuring exhibits on tidal creek, salt marsh, ocean environments and 14 tanks containing native species, the center is the only saltwater aquarium open to the public in Georgia. Kids can climb aboard a model shrimp boat that is part of an exhibit on the shrimp industry. Take a hike on two trails through forest and along the marsh.
